Our client is a leading manufacturer of fastening products and technologies for the commercial roofing and other construction industries worldwide.

They need an Operations Planning Manager who can deliver high quality products to customers on time that is critical to their success. Operations builds the path for products from raw material through distribution, with an end goal of meeting delivery needs as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 10+ years’ success driving targeted production results in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated success utilizing lean tools to achieve efficiency and cost improvement goals.
• Production planning strengths and execution tools, including success managing Kanban.
• Develop leadership bench using company talent management tools and programs.
• Strong interpersonal skills, seasoned judgment and “hands on” leadership style.
• Capable of overcoming obstacles and completing assignments in a timely manner.
• Ability to motivate individuals and teams to perform at high levels to meet or exceed goals.
• Strong PC skills with MS Office Suite and enterprise resourcing planning tools (QAD preferred).
• Strong communication skills that result in clear understanding of intended meaning.

Position Scope:

This role is responsible for coordinating all supply chain related activities involving Planning, Procurement, and Inventory Control for the manufacturing of Medical Devices and Drug Products.  The incumbent must be an individual capable of managing complex tasks independently and managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment with strong interpersonal skills and a service orientation.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

    1. Direct daily and weekly planning, purchasing, warehousing and distribution activities
    2. Analyze the demand forecasts and verify accuracy of the Master Production Schedule and overall MRP to ensure customer supply requirements are met.
    3. Collaborate effectively with Department Managers to ensure timely and thorough execution of activities required to meet customer requirements
    4. Identify and monitor potential risks in supply base and implement plans to mitigate risks.
    5. Own the Sales and Operations Planning process involving coordination of information for successful production planning and inventory risk mitigation.
    6. Ensure processes and activities are compliant with FDA current good manufacturing practices, relevant international regulations as well as OSHA and EPA requirements
    7. Manage materials to support new product introductions, label redesigns, SKU rationalization, and Bill of Material implementation.
    8. Manage strategic outsourcing partners for components, materials and services to support the company’s customer service and cost targets.
    9. Manage third party contract manufacturing organizations to maintain the highest quality and service levels while minimizing cost and supply risk.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Establish the procurement function, including a vision of the group’s long term strategy and goals, and evaluate future organizational design and structure in support of business growth.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert for procurement practices and tools, and excellence in navigating cross-functional disciplines.
    • Develop policies, processes, templates, and best practices to be used within purchasing and supplier management to support the Company’s objectives.
    • Educate personnel on procurement best practices, and develop roles and responsibilities guidance to drive better pricing and performance.
    • Lead rigorous and objective contract negotiations with key internal stakeholders, legal department and support groups.
    • Collaborate with others in Finance to understand budgets and financial forecast processes in an effort to identify areas of potential cost savings.
    • Develop and provide regular reporting on critical key performance indicators/metrics.
    • Maintain ownership of the purchasing requisition system and continually drive process improvements.
    • Organize and ensure SOX 404 documentation reflects current practices and procedures for purchasing processes. Oversee the maintenance, identification, development and implementation of new forms, policies and processes for purchasing and assist with other areas as applicable.
